Community Guidelines

Last updated: June 2026

Zero-Tolerance Policy

Mellon has an absolute zero-tolerance policy for abusive, harmful, exploitative, or objectionable content - including, without exception, any form of Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (CSAE). Violations result in immediate permanent removal from the platform and, where required by law, reporting to authorities.

Mellon is a community built on trust, respect, and shared experiences. These Community Guidelines exist to ensure that everyone feels safe, welcome, and able to enjoy genuine connections. By using Mellon, you agree to follow these guidelines in all interactions - in activity descriptions, bios, messages, and in person.

1. Safety First

  • Never post content that endangers the safety or well-being of any person.
  • Do not use Mellon to facilitate or encourage violence, self-harm, or any dangerous activity.
  • Always meet in safe, public places when connecting with new people offline.
  • Report immediately any behaviour that makes you feel unsafe.

2. Child Safety (CSAE)

Mellon has a strict zero-tolerance policy for Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (CSAE).

  • Any content that sexually exploits, endangers, or depicts minors in a sexual manner is strictly prohibited.
  • Any attempt to solicit minors for sexual purposes is prohibited and will be reported to law enforcement.
  • Accounts found to share, produce, or distribute CSAE material will be immediately and permanently banned and reported to the appropriate authorities, including the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) where required.

If you encounter any content or behaviour you believe involves a child at risk, use the in-app Report function immediately and contact your local emergency services.

3. Respectful Behaviour

All users are expected to treat everyone with dignity and respect. The following are strictly prohibited:

  • Harassment and bullying - intimidating, threatening, or persistently targeting any person.
  • Hate speech - content that attacks people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected characteristics.
  • Discrimination - organising or promoting activities that exclude or demean people based on protected characteristics.
  • Sexual harassment - unsolicited sexual content, advances, or explicit messages.

4. Authentic Identity

  • Do not impersonate another person, celebrity, organisation, or Mellon staff.
  • Use your real name or a consistent personal identity. Fake or misleading profiles are not permitted.
  • Do not create multiple accounts to evade a suspension or ban.

5. Content Standards

All content - including bios, activity descriptions, and messages - must comply with these standards:

  • No graphic, explicit, or sexually explicit material.
  • No promotion of illegal activities, substances, or weapons.
  • No spam, phishing, or misleading information.
  • No content designed to defraud or financially exploit users.
  • All activity listings must be genuine, legal, and accurately described.

Content moderation: Mellon uses both automated systems and human review to detect and remove content that violates these guidelines. Reported content may be reviewed and removed, even before a formal decision is made, where there is an urgent safety concern.

6. Reporting & Enforcement

We take all reports seriously. You can report any user profile, activity, event, or chat message directly within the app using the Report button.

Reported content may be reviewed and removed by our moderation team. Our response will depend on the severity and context of the violation:

  • Warning - for minor or first-time violations.
  • Content removal - offending posts, descriptions, or messages will be taken down.
  • Temporary suspension - access to the platform is restricted for a period.
  • Permanent ban - accounts that seriously or repeatedly violate these guidelines will be permanently removed. Accounts violating policies may be suspended or permanently removed without prior notice.
  • Law enforcement referral - illegal content or behaviour, including CSAE, will be reported to the relevant authorities.

7. How to Report

To report content or a user within the app:

  1. Tap the (more options) or Flag icon on any user profile, activity, event, or message.
  2. Select Report and choose the most relevant reason category.
  3. Optionally add a description and submit.
